Retired Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield lands recurring CBC gig

Canada’s most famous astronaut has a new gig.

CBC says Chris Hadfield will be a recurring contributor on its nightly news show The National and on CBC Radio One, starting Monday.

It says the retired spaceman will “bring his insights on pressing issues using his unique perspective from an inspired and exciting career and life.”

Hadfield went viral online last year while tweeting from his post on the International Space Station.

He was the first Canadian to command the ISS, the first Canadian to operate the Canadarm in orbit, and the first Canadian to walk in space.

He recently released a memoir titled “An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth.”
