U.S. won’t be pushed into fast Keystone decision: Kerry

WASHINGTON – The U.S. government says it won’t be rushed in making a decision on the long-delayed Keystone pipeline.

Secretary of State John Kerry says there’s a process that must be followed and will be followed.

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird has spent the last three days in Washington pushing for a decision because he says the industry can’t be left in limbo.

Kerry says he’d love to give Canada a reply, but the State Department needs to finish its latest study on the project, and it’s just not done yet.

Once that is finished, Kerry says, then his work begins.

The administration will have to make the final decision on whether to allow the Alberta pipeline to enter the U.S., collect more oil in North Dakota, and carry it to refineries in the Gulf of Mexico.
