Police charge driver that struck Vernon home

VERNON – A Quebec driver was charged after driving into a Vernon home early this morning.

The 26-year-old driver was travelling down 32 Street at 21 Avenue around 4:30 a.m. May 3 when the vehicle went off the road and struck a home, RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett says in a media release.

The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperative with police, Brett says. No one was hurt, but the vehicle and residence were heavily damaged.

“The driver (and) residents of the affected home and other motorist are extremely lucky no one was injured as a result of this collision,” Brett says. “Drug and alcohol were not factors in this particular incident.”

The driver was charged under the motor vehicle act for failing to keep right, no driver’s license and no insurance.
