The fourth is strong in the Okanagan

Jedi across the Okanagan are dressing up in their favourite Star Wars costumes and sharing their love of the franchise today, May the fourth, also known as Star Wars Day.

Local politicians, businesses and even government ministries have embraced the phenomenon, sharing photos that show the Force is strong in the Okanagan.

Member of Parliament for Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola Dan Albas, a former martial arts instructor, posted a photo to Facebook today.

"Last week I taught a self defence workshop to Jaycees at their BC convention & carelessly budged Darth Vader in the coffee line up. My martial arts masters never taught how to handle a force choke from a Sith Lord.

If you end up in such a situation, #MayThe4th be with you…"

His Liberal colleague in Kelowna-Lake Country also shared Regina MP Andrew Scheer's nod to the series that's inspired fans since the 1970s.
