WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed Canadian fullback Michel-Pierre Pontbriand to a new contract.
Pontbriand, 30, has spent three seasons with the Blue Bombers. He was slated to become a free agent in February.
He had six carries last season for 61 yards and added eight tackles on special teams.
“Michel-Pierre is a great asset for us as a Canadian player, who understands our league, is a great teammate and locker-room guy, and a player who works extremely hard every day,” general manager Kyle Walters said Wednesday in a release.
Pontbriand, a native of Saint-Sauveur, Que., played university football for Laval and helped the Rouge et Or win Vanier Cup championships in 2003, 2004 and 2006.
