
Wine, sports, yard sales, country music highlight weekend of activities in the South Okanagan
PENTICTON – There’s a variety of indoor and outdoor events for residents and visitors of the South Okanagan this weekend.
Country music star Kip Moore is front and centre at the South Okanagan Events Centre this Saturday, May 12, starting at 7 p.m.
Moore is in Penticton as part of his 'Plead the Fifth' tour. Tickets prices range from $29 to $54.50 plus service charges and are available online at ValleyfirstTix.
The Penticton Farmer’s Market is joined by the Penticton Downtown Community Market which begins another summer on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
The Community Market, which is the largest of its kind in the Okanagan, runs until Oct. 6 in the downtown core. The Farmer’s Market operates in the city’s 100 block of Main Street until 1:00 p.m., while the community market runs until 1:30 p.m.
The Bare Bones Duathlon takes place Saturday. The event is the B.C. Provincial Championship and qualifier for the Multisport World Championship.
The Kaleden Fire Department hosts one of the biggest annual yard sales in the region. It gets underway at 8 a.m. on Saturday at the Kaleden firehall and goes until noon. The long running sale has thousands of bargains and traditionally attracts yard sale enthusiasts from across the region.
Roller Derby season starts this weekend with the Penticton Pistoleras first bout of the season against Kelowna’s Okanagan Roller Derby. Presale tickets are $10 or you can get them at the door for $15. Action gets underway at the Penticton Curling Club on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Naramata Bench wineries Roll Out Their Barrels this weekend to provide wine enthusiasts with a behind the scenes opportunity to learn about Naramata wines and winemaking during the Spring Wine Festival. Winemakers provide the opportunity to give patrons a chance to taste upcoming new wines and learn about the Naramata terroir.
