Miami Beach mayor: No special treatment for pop star Bieber after arrest for drag-racing, DUI
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Miami Beach’s mayor says pop star Justin Bieber isn’t getting any special treatment after his arrest for allegedly speeding down a residential street in a yellow Lamborghini on an expired license.
Authorities say Bieber was arrested early Thursday after police saw him and R&B singer Khalil racing two luxury vehicles, with two other vehicles apparently being used to block off the area. Both face drag-racing and driving under the influence charges.
Mayor Philip Levine is commending police for the arrests and grateful that no one was injured. He says he encourages visitors to enjoy the nightlife in Miami Beach, but “everyone must respect the law and no preferential treatment will be afforded to anyone, regardless of their high-profile or celebrity status.”
Bieber is in custody pending an initial court appearance.
