Former Liberace lover to spend 8 to 20 years in prison after failed drug test
RENO, Nev. – A former lover of Liberace who was the subject of an HBO film on the pianist’s life has been sentenced to eight to 20 years in Nevada state prison for failing another court-ordered drug test while on probation for burglary and identity theft convictions.
Washoe District Judge Patrick Flanagan sentenced Scott Thorson in Reno on Wednesday.
Flanagan had given him a second chance after testing positive for methamphetamine twice in October and again on Nov. 1. Prosecutors say he was arrested again on Nov. 19 after failing another test.
Thorson, also known as Jess Marlow, said earlier he was an addict but determined to get sober. He said he plans to write another book on the heels of his “Behind the Candelabra” used as the basis for the HBO film.
