B.C. woman charged with felony over alleged threats to hockey player boyfriend
VANCOUVER – A freelance reporter from B.C. has been formally charged with a felony in Washington state over allegations she threatened to kill her hockey player boyfriend.
Court documents say 25-year-old Kelowna resident Tieja MacLaughlin, who was arrested in Kennewick, Wash., last Saturday, has been charged with felony harassment, which includes a domestic violence allegation.
The charging document says the harassment count relates to threats to cause bodily harm or death threats.
Police have said MacLaughlin had been dating Tri-City Americans player Jackson Playfair, who called police Friday night to report harassment.
A clerk at the Benton and Franklin Counties Superior Court says MacLaughlin is still in custody, with bail set at $50,000, and she is due to make a court appearanmce on Friday.
None of the allegations have been tested in court, and police documents indicate MacLaughlin denied threatening to kill Playfair when questioned by police.
