7 firefighters missing in Moscow blaze

MOSCOW – Emergency officials in Moscow say that seven firefighters are missing in a large blaze at a plastics warehouse.

A statement from the local division of the Emergencies Ministry on Thursday night said contact had been lost with the seven. The fire, which had engulfed an area of up to 4,000 square meters (40,000 square feet) continued early Friday.

News reports said the seven missing were on the roof of the burning building when a section of it collapsed.

The warehouse reportedly stored a wide range of plastic goods, including artificial flowers.
