Casting call for a historical reenactment in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – Extras are wanted for a documentary being filmed in Kamloops next month.

The documentary is about the formation of the Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs in 1969 is being directed by Doreen Manuel, the daughter of former president George Manuel, according to a Facebook post.

Manuel says she is looking for 50 extras to recreate a Union of Indian Chiefs photo taken in 1969 in Kamloops.

She is casting 30 First Nations men between the ages of 35 and 60, 10 First Nations women between the ages of 40 and 60, and 10 First Nations Men over the age of 65.

All roles are non-speaking. Those hired for the documentary will be paid $50 for the day. The day of filming has yet to be announced, but will most likely take place the first weekend in June.

Actors and actresses will need to be available for one full day of work from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and can send a headshot and full body shot, along with the rest of their contact information to honourthewomen@gmail.com.
