Stankoven puts up three points, Kamloops Blazers rout Spokane Chiefs 5-1

KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Logan Stankoven had a goal and two assists, powering the Kamloops Blazers to a decisive 5-1 win over the Spokane Chiefs in Western Hockey League playoff action on Monday.

The victory gives the Blazers a commanding 3-0 lead in the opening-round series.

Luke Toporowski and Daylan Kuefler each added a goal and an assist for Kamloops, while Fraser Minten and Quinn Schmiemann also scored.

The Blazers jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the second before Eric Atchison replied for the Chiefs midway through the period.

Dylan Garand made 25 saves for Kamloops and Spokane’s Cooper Michaluk stopped 34 of 39 shots in the loss.

Both sides saw ample time of the power play with the Blazers going 2 for 6 with the man advantage and the Chiefs failing to score on six power plays.
