Bombers reverse ban on cowbells after fans make noise about noisemaker ban
WINNIPEG – After an angry reaction from fans, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have quickly reversed a ban on cowbells at home games.
It was originally part of a more general ban on some kinds of noisemakers.
Fan outrage — since many purchased cowbells at the team’s retail store — led to backtracking from the aptly named vice-president Jim Bell.
Fans flooded the Internet with complaints.
“I don’t understand why this team hates its fans so much,” one posted on the Bomber fan forum.
Official Bomber cowbells are now permitted, as well as thunder sticks, clappers and plastic horns.
