Chris Del Bosco, Kelsey Serwa to lead Canada’s ski cross team at Sochi Olympics

VANCOUVER – Chris Del Bosco has a chance at redemption.

The 31-year-old was among the six athletes named Monday to Canada’s ski cross team for the Winter Olympics.

Del Bosco appeared to have the bronze medal locked up in the men’s final at the 2010 Games in Vancouver, but crashed out trying to make a pass to improve his position.

Joining the Montreal skier on the 2014 team heading to Sochi, Russia, are Dave Duncan of London, Ont., Calgary’s Brady Leman, Kelsey Serwa of Kelowna, B.C., Marielle Thompson of Whistler, B.C., and Georgia Simmerling of West Vancouver, B.C.

Canada has set a goal of winning a medal in both the men’s and women’s competition at the Games.

Attending Monday’s announcement was retired Canadian Olympian Ashleigh McIvor, who won gold in the women’s ski cross in 2010.
