MONTREAL – Five Montreal Canadiens players entered the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol Monday.
The Canadiens announced goaltender Jake Allen and defencemen Ben Chiarot, Joel Edmundson, Jeff Petry and Chris Wideman were placed on the protocol list.
The announcement came a day before the Canadiens were scheduled to visit the Tampa Bay Lightning the as the league ended its extended holiday break.
The five players join Laurent Dauphin, Mike Hoffman, Artturi Lehkonen and Tyler Toffoli in the league’s protocol.
The Canadiens recalled goaltender Cayden Primeau and defenseman Corey Schueneman from the American Hockey League’s Laval Rocket and re-assignedBrandon Baddock, Gianni Fairbrother, Cam Hillis and Michael McNiven to the taxi squad.
