Two Mounties hurt during accident outside Surrey, B.C., police station

SURREY, B.C. – Two Mounties — including one who was pinned between police vehicles — have been taken to hospital with serious injuries following an accident outside a Surrey, B.C., police station.

Sgt. Dale Carr says the accident took place mid-afternoon Monday in the parking lot of the Newton District Office.

He says police believe a motorist was travelling through the parking lot, struck a parked police vehicle and pushed it into another police vehicle.

An officer who was on foot was pinned between the two police vehicles.

The officer who was inside the vehicle was also injured, but Carr says the person in the first vehicle was not injured and taken into custody.

The RCMP’s traffic section is investigating the incident.
