Saskatoon man sentenced to 15 months for hiding daughter from his mistress

SASKATOON – A Saskatoon man who admitted to taking and hiding the daughter he fathered with his Brazilian mistress has been sentenced to 15 months in jail.

Alexander Fiodor Levin pleaded guilty earlier this week to child harbouring.

He told court he took the girl from her mother as punishment when he found out the woman had been seeing other men.

Levin and his mistress were visiting Ukraine when he took the one-year-old child to the Philippines and left her there when he returned to his wife and family in Canada.

Levin is getting about 3 1/2 months credit for time already spent in custody.

The judge said he wasn’t sure that Levin wouldn’t do something similar in the future.
