RCMP need your help to find man involved in Kelowna confrontation

KELOWNA – While police aren’t releasing many details about an alleged confrontation in a Kelowna store over two weeks ago, they are now hoping someone can identify a person-of-interest in the case.

RCMP say officers were called to an unidentified retail store in the 2300 block of Baron Road in Kelowna at around 6:50 p.m. May 3 to a report of a confrontation.

A customer was allegedly confronted by a man who was action in an “inappropriate manner” and when confronted by the victim, this unknown man took off on foot, according to an RCMP media release.

“RCMP will not release specific details on the alleged actions of this unknown male, in order to protect the police investigation, which remains active and ongoing at this time,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in the release.

O’Donaghey says police “are taking the matter seriously.”

Police describe the person-of-interest as possibly a First Nations man, between 25 to 35 years of age, 6’ tall with a large build and buzzed black hair. He was wearing a grey ball cap, blue jeans, a blue shirt with an unknown loge on the front and tan coloured boots.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and cite file number 2018-23106. Or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
