
Brewloops block party headlines this weekend’s events in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS – One of Kamloops's favourite beer festivals is kicking off the spring season.
Brewloops is back in Kamloops this weekend, hosting a block party downtown Saturday, May 26, where more than 100 beers from 17 different breweries.
The event starts at noon with the Royal Cup Hockey Tournament and beer vendors in the 300 block of Victoria Street, going until 5 p.m.
After that comes the block party between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. in the 400 block of Victoria Street, and the parking lot beside the Plaza Hotel. Breweries, food trucks, and musicians will be there and tickets are $20 a piece.
The Royal Cup is an invitational charity road hockey tournament founded on Royal Avenue in Kamloops, and the event has featured several current or previous NHL players, and ex-Kamloops Blazers in the past.
Brewloops's goal for 2018 is to raise $10,000 for Kidsport.

It may be the biggest event in Kamloops this weekend, but there is plenty more to do around the city.
Another family-friendly event taking place Saturday is the B.C. Lions Fanfest at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops.
You can celebrate with Lions players, trainers and coaches through the festivities. A free amateur football clinic will start at 6 p.m., followed by a practice and scrimmage from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. After the practice, players and coaches will be available for pictures and autographs. For the kids, face painting, inflatable games, prizes and more will be there. The night will end with a fireworks celebration at 9:30 p.m. presented by BCLC.
If you're a green thumb or just looking for some new treasure, the residents of Bachelor Heights will be hosting a community garage and plant sale starting at 9 a.m. The plant sale will take place at 837 Quail Drive. You can find more information on the event here.
If you're looking for something more outdoorsy, head to the Hug a Tree presentation hosted by Kamloops Nature Kids.
Kamloops Search and Rescue will be showing kids how to stay safe if they get lost in the woods by presenting the Hug a Tree program on Sunday, which prepares children in the event they get lost. Kids will head outside after to learn how to use a compass.
Tomorrow, Canada's only all-female sports competition will be taking place in Kamloops. The Femsport competition, which began in 2001, starts at 10:30 a.m. at Sahali Mall.
If you like wine and dogs (who doesn't), you can head to the Dog Days of Summer event on Sunday at Privato Vineyard and Winery in Westsyde, as part of a fundraiser for the B.C. SPCA Kamloops and district branch.
From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., enjoy complimentary wine tastings for yourself, while your pup enjoys tasting some treats. You can have a picnic with your furry friend and explore the vineyard. There will be agility games set up by the SPCA, and a pet and owner look-alike contest, with a $30 Privato gift card awarded to the winner. Entry is by donation.
