Police seek witnesses to ‘dramatic collision’ in Mission area

KELOWNA – Police are seeking witnesses to a three-car crash on Lexington Drive from Thursday night that sent three people to hospital.

The appeal comes four days after the May 24 crash. Kelowna RCMP says at around 5:36 p.m. a black Ford Flex collided into the rear of a white Volkwagen Eurovan and a blue Kia Forte near the Mission Sportsfields.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey says one witness on a motorized scooter, who was not injured himself, says he “actually felt the pressure of the impact.”

A woman and two men were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“Our investigators have yet to rule out a mechanical failure as a potential contributing factor in this crash, which had the real potential of being fatal,” O’Donaghey says. “As such, part of our still ongoing investigation will include a full mechanical inspection of the Ford Flex.”

Anyone who witnessed this crash, and has not yet spoken with police, or anyone with any information is asked to contact Const. David Carter of the Kelowna RCMP Municipal Traffic Section at 250-762-3300.

“The Kelowna Municipal Traffic Section is appealing to the general public for any dash camera, residential or commercial video surveillance footage which may have caught the crash as it unfolded,” states RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.
