Penticton RCMP seek vehicle involved in hit and run

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance after a toddler’s stroller was struck by a vehicle in a city intersection on Friday.

RCMP say the incident tool place around 12:15 p.m. May 25 when a woman was crossing Main Street on a green light at Eckhardt Avenue with her young son in a stroller. A vehicle turning right from Main Street onto Eckhardt Avenue struck the baby stroller, knocking it over.

The vehicle fled the scene, heading eastbound, police say. The child was taken to hospital and wasn't seriously hurt.

Police spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth said in a press release a bystander is reported to have yelled at the woman to call police but that person hasn’t been identified.

The vehicle is described as being a gold-coloured, older model sedan, possibly a Honda Civic.

Police would like the public's assistance identifying the vehicle involved in the incident.

Anyone who might have witnessed the hit and run, or who might have information that could be of assistance to police, is asked to contact Const. Hay at 250-492-4300 or email at kyle.hay@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
