Alberta man sentenced to eight years for shooting and wounding two Mounties
WESTASKIWIN, Alta. – A central Alberta man has been sentenced to eight years for shooting and wounding two Mounties during a standoff.
Bradley Beaver, who is 40, pleaded guilty at the beginning of his trial to three counts of reckless discharge of a firearm.
Several other charges, including attempted murder, were withdrawn.
Court heard that the RCMP were investigating a previous shooting at Beaver’s mobile home near Breton in December 2011.
But officers didn’t announce themselves right away and Beaver, a drug addict, believed someone else was trying to break into his home.
Beaver and the officers exchanged gunfire and they were all treated in hospital for bullet wounds to their arms.
