Jim Henson Company bringing live-action puppet series ‘Hi Opie!’ to Canada
TORONTO – The Jim Henson Company is bringing a new live-action puppet series to Canada.
Toronto-based Marblemedia says it’s partnered with the venerable Henson company on the new Barbara Slade-created preschool series “Hi Opie!”
Targeted to kids 2 1/2 to 5 years old, the story follows the experiences of kindergarten student Opie, a puppet custom built by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
The series will also include real kid classmates who are in their first year of all-day kindergarten.
It’s scheduled to premiere later this year on TVOKids, City Saskatchewan and British Columbia’s Knowledge Network.
Marblemedia says casting and writing are under way.
Production is scheduled to start in March on the 39 seven-minute episodes.
