SEATTLE – Some people staked out spots overnight in freezing temperatures and thousands more crowded into downtown Seattle during morning rush hour Wednesday for the Seahawks’ Super Bowl victory parade.
Officials are anticipating a turnout between 200,000 and 500,000 along Fourth Avenue. The parade begins at 11 a.m. PST at Denny Way and goes to CenturyLink Field, where an event for season ticket holders will be held.
Hours before the parade, fans wearing Seahawks’ gear waved at motorists and gathered along the route.
Officials advised parade-goers to dress warmly. The National Weather Service forecast sunny skies and temperatures in the low 30s.
The parade features Seahawks players and coaches bringing the trophy home to 12th Man fans.
Some private schools closed. Seattle public schools left it up to principals to excuse absences.
