WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets have hired former Montreal Canadiens assistant coach Perry Pearn as a new assistant coach.
Pearn has been an assistant coach in the NHL for 16 seasons with the Ottawa Senators, New York Rangers and Canadiens.
He spent three seasons with the Canadiens alongside Jacques Martin. He also worked as an assistant to Martin with the Ottawa Senators from 1996-2004.
The 61-year-old Pearn started his NHL career in 1995-96 as an assistant to Terry Simpson with the old Winnipeg Jets, just before they left for Phoenix and became the Coyotes.
The Jets also announced they had extended the contracts of their other assistant coaches — Charlie Huddy, Pascal Vincent, Wade Flaherty and Tony Borgford.
They also extended the contract of St. John’s IceCaps assistant coach Mark Morrison.
