NEW YORK, N.Y. – New York City medical examiners say an autopsy of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s body is inconclusive, and they need to conduct more tests to determine what caused his death.
A medical examiners’ office spokeswoman said Wednesday that there is no timetable for the autopsy to be finished. She declined to discuss the pending tests, but toxicology and tissue tests are typically done in such cases.
Police have been investigating the actor’s death as a suspected drug overdose.
Law enforcement officials have said Hoffman was found Sunday with a needle in his arm, and tests found heroin in samples from at least 50 packets in his Manhattan apartment.
