‘Swiss Army Man’ directors explain Daniels nickname
“Swiss Army Man” directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert are known collectively as Daniels — not “the” Daniels. Here’s why, in their own words:
Scheinert: We felt like it was a little arrogant to put an article in front of it.
Kwan: Like we’re the only ones.
Scheinert: Because there are so many great Daniels out there, Radcliffe being one of them.
Kwan: Danny DeVito, Daniel Day-Lewis.
Scheinert: Danny Glover.
Kwan: There are so many, so if we did that, I feel like it would be offensive to all the other Daniels.
Scheinert: It would be like we’re proclaiming victory. So maybe one day when we’re …
Kwan: The only surviving ones …
Scheinert: Yeah, like the unchallenged greatest of all time, we’ll put a “the” in front, but until then we’re just some Daniels.
Kwan: “Some Daniels” would be pretty funny.
