Canada should aim for lofty goals at Olympics, says COC president

SOCHI, Russia – Canada’s athletes are in Sochi to compete and win says the president of the Canadian Olympic Committee.

Marcel Aubut says he’s not nervous about Canada’s goal of finishing first overall in the medal count at the 2014 Winter Games.

The COC president says Canadians want to be the best in the world and their athletes feel the same way.

Figure skating, slopestyle and women’s moguls competition is underway ahead of Friday’s opening ceremonies.

The first medals will be handed out Saturday.

Slopestyle snowboarder Mark McMorris of Regina and Montreal moguls skier Justine Dufour-Lapointe are candiates to win Canada’s first medal of the Games.
