
Kelowna RCMP catch violent criminal
KELOWNA – A man police consider dangerous, and wanted on numerous charges including sexual assault with a weapon, has been arrested at a Kelowna home.
RCMP say a tip from the public lead officers to a home on Findlay Road in Kelowna last night, June 4, where they took Russell Dale McDermid, 37, into custody “without incident.”
McDermid was wanted on a long list of charges including sexual assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats, according to an RCMP media release.
“The Kelowna RCMP were able to locate a wanted violent criminal and put him behind bars due to the information provided by the public,” RCMP spokesperson Const. Lesley Smith says in the release.
McDermid is scheduled to make a court appearance in Kelowna today, June 5.
