Kamloops RCMP arrest man after a foot chase downtown

KAMLOOPS – A 26-year-old man has been arrested after running away from police in downtown Kamloops.

An officer found a man in breach of his probation yesterday, June 5, in the 500 block of Columbia Street at 3:30 p.m., according to an RCMP media release.

When the officer informed the man he was under arrest, the suspect fled the scene. A few minutes later, another officer saw the same man running down the alley between St. Paul Street and Seymour Street.

“A foot chase ensued with the officer catching the male near St. Paul Street and 4 Avenue,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release.

The man was arrested without incident and he is scheduled to appear in court today, June 6. All investigational information has been forwarded to the B.C. Prosecution Service, police say.
