
Cyclist seriously injured in collision in Kelowna
KELOWNA – A collision that seriously injured a cyclist in Kelowna is under investigation.
RCMP municipal traffic investigators remain on the scene of the collision that happened around 9:10 a.m. on Old Vernon Road, media relations officer Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a press release.
B.C. Ambulance paramedics arrived on the scene to find the cyclist lying on the road unconscious but breathing, and rushed him to Kelowna General Hospital where he remains in unknown condition.
Part of Old Vernon Road between Rutland Road North and Morrison Road remains closed, O’Donaghey said, while investigators wait for the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service.
A woman reportedly driving the white Volkswagen Jetta remained on the scene. Her car was seriously damaged during the impact, the press release said. The cyclist is said not to have been wearing a helmet.
Anyone who witnessed this collision is asked to phone Kelowna RCMP municipal traffic section at 250-762-3300.
