Remembrance Day in the North Okanagan

VERNON – There are a number of ceremonies planned in the North Okanagan for Remembrance Day on Tuesday.

The largest ceremony will be in Vernon at Kal Tire Place. The community service begins at 10:15 a.m. with the doors open for seating at 9 a.m.

B.C. Transit will be running buses in Vernon on the stat holiday. The buses on routes one to eight will be in service from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In Coldstream and Lavington, there will be two services. The ceremonies both begin at 10:45 a.m. at the Coldstream Cenotaph and the Lavington Cenotaph. Refreshments at the respective fire halls will follow the services. The Coldstream Elementary School parking lot will be made available for those attending the service. There is an added bonus in Lavington, a pancake breakfast at the fire hall from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

If you have pictures to share, the District of Coldstream is collecting the photos for a display at the Women’s Institute Hall on Remembrance Day. The pictures can be dropped off at the Coldstream Municipal Office addressed to mayor Jim Garlick, or emailed to the district at info@coldstream.ca.

Armstrong is holding its service at the Hassen Arena. Doors open at 10 a.m. with the ceremony and procession at 10:30 a.m. A light lunch will be served afterwards at the Legion.

The Remembrance Day ceremony in Enderby will be held in Cenotaph Park at 10:35 a.m. There will be refreshments at the Legion following the service.
