Canada’s Mark McMorris advances to men’s slopestyle final at Sochi Olympics
KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia – Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorris is moving on to the men’s slopestyle final at the Sochi Olympics.
The Regina native earned one of the four remaining spots in the 12-man final with a score of 89.25 in today’s semifinal.
Charles Reid of Mont-Tremblant, Que., was eliminated after finishing in 14th place.
McMorris had to compete in the semifinal after struggling to a seventh-place finish in the qualifying round.
He broke a rib two weeks ago but is medically cleared to compete in the event, which is making its Olympic debut.
Reigning X Games champion Max Parrot and fellow Canadian Sebastien Toutant have already qualified for the final later today.
