A cautionary tale for marijuana farmers

KELOWNA – A man transporting marijuana plants should’ve checked to make sure his all the lights on his car were in good working order.

Kelowna RCMP say they pulled over a man Wednesday night because one of his tail lights wasn’t working.

When the driver rolled the window down, the officer was hit with an overpowering odour of marijuana. There were over 1,600 small marijuana plants, or clones, packed into three coolers inside the vehicle.

The man behind the wheel was arrested.

The “clones” are commonly used in the cultivation of marihuana and are typically clippings from a mature female plant that has been selected for desirable characteristics. The clones are rooted and transplanted in order to skip the seeding process.

A West Kelowna man, 46, faces charges of possession of a controlled substance. He was released on a promise to appear in court in January.
