It snowed at Big White and Silver Star on the weekend

KELOWNA – Just 10 days before the summer solstice there was snow on the ground in the villages at Big White Ski Resort and Silver Star Mountain Resort yesterday.

Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna posted pictures of the fresh snow on its Facebook page yesterday, June 10, and the webcams on Silver Star clearly show it was a snow day.

Big White senior vice president Michael Ballingall says they received anywhere from 14 to 20 cm of snow in the village that has since melted.

“This happens every year,” says Ballingall, who has 33-years of experience on the mountain to draw from. He expects some snow to fall next month as well.

Silver Star Mountain Resort accumulated as much as 23 cm of snow in 24 hours, according to the resort website.
