Blackjack Billy and Doc Walker coming to country rock Vernon

VERNON – The promoter is promising a '70s concert feel for the Bands on the Run tour coming to Kal Tire Place in Vernon next month.

The concert features country rockers Blackjack Billy and Canadian country artists Doc Walker and the Road Hammers.

David Hesketh says the December 13 concert will feature affordable ticket prices and general seating with an arena-bowl configuration. He promises an intimate concert experience for fans and the performers.

“We have fine tuned it into a great tailgate country party with the stage near centre ice and standing-only on the floor,” Hesketh says. “Fans of these bands will be able to see them clearly from anywhere in the arena. It is going to be a great evening."

The four members of Blackjack Billy describe their music as “redneck rock.” Their debut single was The Booze Cruise, independently in March 2014.

Canadian Country Music Award winners Doc Walker is from Portage La Prairie, Man. and the group had radio play with a couple songs from 2003 album Everyone Aboard.

The other band scheduled to play is the Road Hammers, a trio influenced by trucker music and southern rock, according the band’s website.

Tickets for the all ages show are $42.50 in advance and $50 at the door.

The general admission tickets mean you can sit or stand wherever you want in the arena. They are on sale now the Ticketseller or by calling 250-549-7469.
