Vancouver Canucks will play pre-season game in Kelowna

KELOWNA – It's Hockey Night in Kelowna.

The Vancouver Canucks announced today they will play their final pre-season game at Prospera Place in Kelowna in what they expect will be a new tradition to spread the love throughout the province. 

The National Hockey League team will take on the Arizona Coyotes Saturday, Sept. 29. Ticket and pricing information is not yet available but you can get priority access to single game tickets here and if past NHL experiences in Kelowna are any indication you should get them fast. In March 2010, the Detroit Red Wings held a practice at Prospera Place and nearly packed the barn. 

In a release issued today, Canucks President Trevor Linden, who also owns property in the Central Okanagan, says the Kelowna game will mark a new tradition to hold at least one home pre-season game away from Rogers Arena each year to reach as many fans as possible. Kamloops and Victoria are likely good bets for future games. 

“Kelowna has a rich hockey history and we are excited to play in front of great fans in the Okanagan,” Linden said. “The preseason marks the start of what will be a great year for hockey fans in B.C., as in addition to the continued development and growth of our team, we have the privilege of welcoming the hockey world to both the 2019 World Juniors and 2019 NHL Entry Draft at Rogers Arena.” 

The team is hosting its training camp in Whistler.
