Heat returning to the Okanagan

KELOWNA – This week’s unsettled weather conditions are expected to come to an end in the Okanagan with the return of sunny skies and warmer temperatures on the weekend, but that’s only part of the story. It’s going to get hot out there next week.

“Enjoy the moderate temperatures this weekend as next week’s daytime highs are expected to be in the low- to mid-30s," Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist says.

Lundquist says the hot, sunny weather could be sticking around, with forecast models seeing no new weather systems on the horizon for the next 10 days.

High temperatures for this time of year are normally around 25 Celsius.

The Okanagan still has to get through another two days of unsettled conditions before the sun comes out and temperatures begin to rise on the weekend.

The forecast for today, June 14, calls for a high of around 20 C, a chance of showers with the possibility of thundershowers.

We can expect much the same weather tomorrow with a chance of showers, the possibility of an afternoon thundershower and highs around 21 C.

Saturday and Sunday are expected to be mainly sunny with highs in the upper 20s.
