Kelowna Chiefs hold on for win

KELOWNA – Rutland’s very own Kelowna Chiefs opened up a three game weekend with a victory.

The Chiefs defeated the Sicamous Eagles 3 – 2 Friday night at Rutland Arena.

Jagger Bowles (1G, 2A) would start things off at 19:18 with his first and only goal in the match-up.  Leading scorer Nick Josephs (1G, 1A) would quickly follow at 16:14.

Sicamous would close out the first 20minutes of play with a goal to make the game 2 – 1 at the end of the first.

The second period was scoreless and it wasn’t until 13:52 in the third period that Brady Mende would score his second goal of the season.

Then with only :30 seconds left in the game, Mathew Maetche with Sicamous would sneak one past Tyler O’Donnell and the game would end 3 – 2 in favour of the Chiefs.

O’Donnell faced 18 shots on net in the game.

The Kelowna Chiefs are back at Rutland Arena on Saturday October 19th as they face the Castlegar Rebels for the first time this season.  Puck drop is at 7PM.
