Police: Man with knife threatens to behead officers, is shot

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Officials say Jacksonville police shot a knife-wielding man who threatened to cut off officers’ heads.

The Florida Times-Union http://bit.ly/27msZ3y reports that Chief Chris Butler of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the incident early Saturday morning began when a manager of a downtown McDonald’s called police because a man with knives was banging on the windows in a threatening manner.

When officers arrived the man was across the street where he yelled at them that he would cut their heads off.

Butler say officers approached him and tried to negotiate with him to drop the knives and surrender but he raised a large knife and charged at officers in a threatening manner, leaving them no choice but to shoot.

The suspect is in critical condition. His identity was not released.
