Homeowner shot in shoulder during violent home invasion in small B.C. community

SICAMOUS, B.C. – Police are investigating a violent home-invasion that resulted in the homeowner being shot in the shoulder after three men burst into a residence east of Sicamous, B.C.

RCMP Const. Leslie Smith says they responded to a report of an altercation between the men with weapons and a male at the house, in the small community of Malakwa.

Smith says the suspects fled after the male homeowner was shot.

Sgt. Dave Dubnyk (DOOB-nik) says three children and a woman were also in the home Wednesday night and he says it’s fortunate they weren’t killed or injured.

The homeowner was transported to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate a possible motive for the crime.
