Escaped camel captured after injuring man, chasing cars in rural Los Angeles County
PALMDALE, Calif. – Los Angeles County Animal Control authorities are investigating how a camel escaped from a rural enclosure and injured a man before it was corralled.
The Sheriff’s Department says the camel was reported to be chasing cars after escaping from a property Friday morning.
A woman who lives nearby in the rustic high desert area tells KABC-TV the camel injured her father as he tried to capture it.
Skylar Dossenbach says her father was knocked down, kicked and bitten on the head. Dossenbach says her father is OK although the extent of the injuries isn’t known.
A neighbour who got the camel away from the injured man had to take refuge inside a car.
Animal Control spokeswoman Betsy Weber says the camel has been seized and the owner could be cited.
