PENTICTON – The Centre at Naramata risks a chance of shutting down unless the organization can raise $500,000 by the end of the month.
The Centre has had financial difficulties, which became known to the public this past spring when 30 CUPE workers, employed by the Centre went on strike.
A statement released earlier this week states the Centre has exhausted its financial resources and Board Directors have initiated a campaign to raise half-a-million dollars by the end of November or else the Centre will close in two months.
“The Board and Management of the Centre at Naramata recognize that drastic, fundamental change is required to repurpose the Centre under a financially sustainable model,” said Janet McDonald, on behalf of the Centre Board of Directors and Management. “Board and Management will be consulting with stakeholders in the next few weeks to realize a future for the Centre.”
McDonald couldn’t be reached for further comment.
