Sunderland through to last 8 of FA Cup; rivals Man City, Chelsea meet for 2nd time in 2 weeks

SUNDERLAND, England – Sunderland has advanced to the FA Cup quarterfinals with a 1-0 victory over Southampton, thanks to Craig Gardner’s long-range strike in the 50th minute.

Later Saturday, Manchester City hosts its Premier League title rival Chelsea as the teams meet for the second time in two weeks with a place in the last eight at stake.

Also, holder Wigan travels to Cardiff.
