Johnny Depp receives distinguished artisan award at makeup and hair stylists awards

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Make-up and Hair Stylists Guild awards returned after a 10-year hiatus with an award for Johnny Depp.

The actor received the distinguished artisan award for his work in films like “Edward Scissorhands,” ”Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Alice in Wonderland.”

Depp’s honour was presented by his long-time collaborator and makeup artist Joel Harlow, who is nominated for an Academy Award for makeup in “The Lone Ranger.”

Jane Lynch, Ed Asner, Johnny Knoxville, Nicollette Sheridan and Melissa Leo were among the other presenters honouring the artists behind Oscar nominees like “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa” and “Dallas Buyers Club,” as well as television shows like “The Voice.”

Makeup artist Dick Smith and hairstylist Gail Ryan received lifetime achievement awards.

Tom Arnold hosted Saturday evening’s ceremony at the Paramount Studios theatre.
