Kelowna Chiefs defeat Castlegar

KELOWNA –  Rutland’s very own Kelowna Chiefs made it four straight victories Saturday night.

The Chiefs cruised to an 8 – 2 win over the Castlegar Rebels at Rutland Arena.

Castlegar opened up scoring in the first period at 16:35 with a power play goal from Derek Georgopoulos.  Kelowna would quickly answer back at 16:02 thanks to Nick Josephs (3G, 2A).

The game was tied 2 – 2 heading into the second period when the Chiefs hit their stride and never looked back.

Scoring in the second was Dylan Jamieson (1G, 2A) while Josephs would add his second of the night.  Jagger Bowles (1G, 4A) would contribute a power play goal.

Three more goals were netted in the third period.  Nicholas Gnazdowsky (2G, 1A) added two while Josephs went on to score his third of the night for the hat trick during a power play.

Nicholas Kovacik (1G, 1A) also scored in the victory while Brady Mende and Kevin Roth each had an assist.

Conner DeMelo faced 29 shots on net in the win.

Up next for the Kelowna Chiefs, a road game in Armstrong against the North Okanagan Knights on Sunday October 20th.
