Son charged with first-degree murder in slaying of father, father’s girlfriend

JOLIETTE, Que. – A man has been formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his father and his father’s girlfriend.

Guillaume Gelinas, 22, stood motionless in the prisoner’s dock as he appeared briefly before a judge today after spending the weekend locked up.

He is charged in the deaths of Luc Gelinas, 54, and Julie Lemieux, 35.

They were found dead in their home on Thursday morning in Terrebonne, north of Montreal. It was the elder Gelinas’ birthday.

Guillaume Gelinas returns to court on March 6.

The accused was placed under arrest on Friday and charged over the phone with two counts of murder.

The couple both worked in management for Quebec’s liquor board.
