Vandals strike public Kelowna washroom second time

KELOWNA – For the second time in a month, vandals have damaged a public washroom in Kelowna.

The most recent damage to the city washroom at the Rutland sports field in the 400 block of Hartman Road was reported to police Monday morning, June 25, RCMP say.

Someone smashed a urinal that had been recently replaced.

“This intentional act of destruction appears senseless. Our investigators are unable to determine what would motivate anyone to commit such a crime,” RCMP media spokesperson Cpl. Tania Carroll says in a media release.

Thousands of dollars of damage was done to the same washroom on May 23.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and cite police file number 2018-35668. Or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
