VICTORIA – The Crown has charged 14 more people for their part in the Stanley Cup riots in Vancouver almost three years ago.
Charges range from taking part in a riot and mischief, to possession of stolen property and assault.
In total, 291 people have now been charged in connection to the June 2011 riot.
Hundreds of people looted stores, torched cars and assaulted police and bystanders following the Vancouver Canucks’ loss to Boston in Game Seven of the Stanley Cup final.
Of those, 231 suspects have now pleaded guilty and 185 have already been sentenced.
The Crown says it will not pursue charges against 64 other suspects identified by police because there is no likelihood of conviction or charges are not in the public interest.
