Clouds to give way to sunshine in Okanagan this week
KELOWNA – Summer is expected to return to the Okanagan later this week following an unseasonably cold and wet Canada Day long weekend.
Environment Canada meteorologist Armel Castellan says a ridge of high pressure is building this week that will return the valley to typical summer conditions.
Castellan says June was "an interesting month" that saw the first two weeks unsettled and wet, followed by a week of warm weather before a return of moderating temperatures at end the month. Temperatures and precipitation ended up close to average for the Okanagan last month.
Temperatures will be on the rebound in the Okanagan after one last day of cloudy, cool weather today, July 3. The forecast calls for a mainly cloudy day, with a chance of showers and a high around 21 Celsius.
Expect a mix of sun and cloud tomorrow with a high of 25 C in Vernon and Kelowna, and a high of 27 in Penticton.
Mostly sunny skies and temperatures around 30 C should prevail throughout the Okanagan on Thursday and Friday.
